Businesses

"Not surprisingly, experts predict that Vermont employers will find it increasingly difficult to locate skilled workers to fill available jobs."

We are lucky in Vermont to have so many businesses that are actively involved in our mission of preparing Vermonts next generation for the workforce. LLL would not be able to continue our work without the thousands of hours that local employers dedicate to the development of our young people. It's no secret that Vermont faces critical demographic shifts.  In fact, we are the second oldest state in the U.S. This is why it is so critical to invest in Vermont's youth today by giving them the opportunity to job shadow, intern, or work at your business. The days of finding easy summer employment are over. In this recession, teens are competing with seasoned adults for these jobs and without first time work experiences our youth will not gain crucial job skills that employers require.

By partnering with LLL, you are providing a real opportunity for our next generation in a supported environment. LLL staff work closely with all employers and supervisors to ensure that your business is well supported and that you have the capacity and resources to create a quality experience for a student.

Other Opportunities: You can also bring your business to the classroom by doing in-class activities and presentations or be a panelist for a classroom discussion. You can open your doors for a site tour. You and your employees can become mentors in our Mentors for Kids school-based program. Your business can make a contribution to LLL by donating or by sponsoring an event.

Employer Trainings: Linking Learning to Life is also available to host trainings for Vermont employers on how best to understand and work with youth.

Last year, we worked with over 200 businesses, non-profits, and state agencies to create learning opportunities for Vermont youth!
