Linking Learning to Life offers a variety of programs to help you gain the necessary skills to be successful today and for the rest of your life. These skills include but are not limited to:
- effective communication
- leadership and teamwork
- critical thinking and problem solving
- learning about yourself to spark your creativity and innovation.
All of our programs fall under 3 categories:
Our programs address the skills that will help you be better prepared for any of these 3 areas, since they all relate. Our programs help you take your next steps towards whatever it is you are pursuing, whether that is college, a job or career, an internship, or a community service project.

Career Programs
Learn to Earn
Offers a way for 8th - 10th grade students to learn about emerging fields of work while encouraging them to cater their coursework to these opportunities. More specifically, the program emphasizes the importance of math, science, communication, and technology skills and their relation to the emerging job opportunities in Vermont.
TIPS
A student internship program for students 16+ that includes a pre-employment skills class (typically at your high school), a 40 hour unpaid internship with a local business that you help decide, followed by the possibility of a paid job upon successful completion.
Ready, Set, Work!
An intensive 5 week summer program for those of you that need a bit more support. It combines 3 days a week of paid employment with 2 days a week of interactive employment and life skills training and community involvement.
Youth Work Crew
Students from alternative education programs spend 6 weeks in the summer working along side VT Lake Monsters grounds staff to help maintain Centennial Field while developing team work,leadership and basic job and life skills.
YES!
An intensive program to help prepare high school students with disabilities for the world of work. This program is a partnership with the VT Division of Vocational Rehab.
LEAP
A residential summer program for blind and visually impaired students from around VT to build employment and independent living skills. This program is a collaboration with VT Youth Conservation Corp and ReCycle North.
L-Works
Classroom training combined with internships help English Language Learners learn the skills and language of the work world in the U.S.
College Programs
College Connections
Breaking down barriers to college, high school students take college courses, earning both high school and college credit. This dual enrollment program also provides continuing support to help students succeed throughout their college career.
TOEFL Prep
A program to help English Language Learners build their academic language skills in preparation for taking the TOEFL exam for college entrance. This opportunity is provided in collaboration with St. Michaels College.
Community Programs
Mentors for Kids
A school-based mentoring program in Burlington elementary & middle schools that matches those that are in need of additional support with caring adults who offer encouragement, support, advocacy and career awareness.
Community Outreach at Hunt and Edmunds Middle Schools
The community serves as an extension to the classroom as program staff help create and coordinate service learning and other career exploration experiences outside the school and integrate these within the curriculum.
Community Service at Burlington High School
LLL connects BHS students with community service opportunities at local nonprofit organizations. Every BHS student must complete 40 hours of service to graduate.
PILOT
A youth leadership program to develop leadership skills, explore community resources and issues, and explore career options. This program is a collaboration with the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, this program was inspired by the Leadership Champlain program for adults.
